Dr. Roshani’s primary research interest lies in the synthesis of organometallic compounds for medicinal applications, particularly in the development of novel drug candidates. Currently, she is conducting research on the antimicrobial effects of silver nanoparticles, with a specific focus on their interaction with Lactobacillus bacteria. This study aims to understand the potential therapeutic or inhibitory properties of silver-based nanomaterials and their impact on beneficial microbial communities.

Dr. Krause is currently conducting research that involves developing spatial models in geographic information system (GIS) technology and remotely sensed data to help identify potential impacts of climate change on rare and endemic species. The study is also directed at understanding dispersal ability with climate change and how a protected area might respond to the potential impacts of climate change.

Dr. Rajitha Perera specializes in the development of optical luminescence sensors for real-world applications, with additional expertise in lanthanide inorganic complexes, organometallic chemistry, and chemical synthesis. His current research involves mentoring undergraduate students on projects focused on the effects of silver nanoparticles on Lactobacillus bacteria. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Perera oversees the chemistry department’s stockroom management, chemical waste disposal, reagent preparation, and routine laboratory safety inspections.
